- Certain land uses that are not compatible with each other

- sometimes built by private entities
- Conform to planning guidelines and use high-quality materials
- Building and Construction Authority (BCA) → makes the guidelines for the houses built
- If you own the property you get a Title Deed
- If you rent a property you get a Rental Agreement
- Have access to basic services (water, electricity, sewage)
Informal
Housing
- Usually self-built by residents
- Construction is not regulated and uses inferior building materials, not strong
- Illegally built on undeveloped and unsecured state or private land
- Lack access to basic services
- Eg. Turkey after earthquake
